KHEDAN WATAN PUNJAB DIYAN-2023: ADMINISTRATION GEARS UP FOR TORCH RELAY AND STATE-LEVEL MATCHES

 

TORCH RELAY TO ARRIVE IN JALANDHAR ON AUGUST 25, MATCHES TO BE HELD FROM OCTOBER 1 TO 6

3000 PLAYERS EXPECTED TO BE PART OF MATCHES

The district administration on Tuesday started the preparations for welcoming the torch relay of Khedan Watan Punjab Diyan-2023 in Jalandhar on August 25 besides holding of state-level matches from October 1 and 6.

The matches of Hockey, Athletics, and Equestrian games will be held in Burlton Park, PAP, and Sports College.

Additional Deputy Commissioner Major Dr Amit Mahajan, while reviewing the preparations said that the Punjab government had started a torch relay to create awareness about the second season of ‘Khedan Watan Punjab Diyan’ which will begin on August 29 in Bathinda. He said that the torch relay would reach Jalandhar on August 25 and it would be given a grand welcome by the district administration. He also fixed the duties of various departments for the event.

Meanwhile, Mahajan also took stock of the arrangements for state-level matches of the games which will be held from October 1 to 6 here. He asked the officials to ensure adequate facilities including food, accommodation, transport, security, medical, and others for the 3000 players, who are expected to take part in the games, must be meticulously planned at the earliest.

He said that the nodal officers would be deployed to ensure fool-proof arrangements for the smooth organization of matches. He also asked the officials to ensure all the players must not face any inconvenience during entry at the event.

He also appealed the interested youngsters to register themselves on the portal www.khedanwatanpunjabdia.com for taking part in these games.

SDM Vikas Heera and officials of sports , education and health departments were present in the meeting .
