World kidney day celebrated at New Ruby Hospital on 14th March in association with rotary Club Jalandhar West. Dr. Puneet Grover spoke about the World Kidney Day at a gathering of Kidney patient relatives, staff of the hospital and members of Rotary Club Jalandhar West. Rtn. P.S Bindra welcomed all the guests & told why the world kidney day is celebrated all over the world on 2nd Thursday of March & this time it is 14th March Dr. S.P.S Grover told that kidney failure can be prevented if the DM & HT are kept under control with medicines but if the sugar & BP remain high, slowly & slowly over a period of 10 years, the kidneys will get damaged & there will be rise in blood urea & serum creatinine & patient will have symptoms of swelling over body, loss of appetite vomiting & weight loss ultimately patient go into a state where they need dialysis.  Similarly the pain killers should not be taken indiscriminately & its long time use leads to kidney failure.Dr. Puneet Pal Singh Grover urologist and kidney specialist of New Ruby Hospital Pvt. Ltd. told that when patient goes into renal failure he has two option either to remain on dialysis twice a week or go in for kidney transplant, The kidney transplant is possible if beloved relation of the same blood group donates his/her kidney for the patient which is usually very difficult to find because of nuclear families.Govt must propagate the cadaver transplant by opening a National registry and all brain dead patients after the accidents should donate their organs after proper legal formalities.P.P Er. Kuldip Singh of Rotary Club Jalandhar West also told certain data about kidney failure.Generally people from Pakistan Indian, Bangladesh & Sri Lanka have higher risk of contracting, CKD especially with increased rates of diabetes & hypertension. Kidney disease affects more than 80 crore individuals’ world over.
