To explore and celebrate the power of renewable sources of energy-Akshay Urja Diwas was<\/strong>
\norganized in HMV Collegiate Sr. Sec. School under the able stewardship of\u00a0\u00a0Principal Prof. Dr.<\/strong>
\n(Mrs.) Ajay Sareen. The day commemorates the birthday of former Prime Minister Mr. Rajiv<\/strong>
\nGandhi and the objective of this event is to generate mass awareness and popularization of<\/strong>
\nneed, benefits and uses of renewable energy devices and systems in all spheres of life. The event<\/strong>
\nwas commenced with lighting of the lamp to spread divine grace. The Green Champion Awardee<\/strong>
\nDr. Ajay Sareen conveyed her felicitation of Akshay Urja Diwas to the young learners and<\/strong>
\nmotivated them to be considerate towards environment. She put forth the catchword \u201cSave<\/strong>
\nEnergy and Make the Earth Greeneer\u201d\u00a0 and emphasized to be highly conscious while using<\/strong>
\nenergy resources. She inspires every student to use energy resources prudently by saying that<\/strong>
\nin HMV alternate energy resources are taken into great consideration like Solar Generator, Solar<\/strong>
\nLight, Solar Gysers, Rain Water Harvesting Unit and Recycling Paper Machine are used with the<\/strong>
\npurpose of reducing wastage of energy resources so that these can be saved for posterity. She<\/strong>
\nconcluded her words by saying that the progress of any nation depends on the use of energy<\/strong>
\nresources wisely. Dr. Seema Marwaha, School Coordinator\u00a0congratulated the students and all<\/strong>
\nfaculty members and apprised that wind, earth and water are the most precious blessings the<\/strong>
\nmankind has and\u00a0 it is our solemn duty to conserve them and use them with wisdom as they are<\/strong>
\nfar better renewable resources than traditional energy resources that are exhaustible and take<\/strong>
\nmillions of years to replenish. She told the students to always focus on conserving nature so that<\/strong>
\nwe can make our Earth greener and cleaner.\u00a0The students of Senior Secondary classes<\/strong>
\nparticipated with great enthusiasm in poster and model making competitions. Different sources<\/strong>
\nof energy were represented creating remarkable models. Students prepared still model as well<\/strong>
\nas working models. Their eye-catching models like water free energy, wind mill energy,<\/strong>
\nharvesting from rain water, ocean wave power generator, agriculture farming working model<\/strong>
\netc. received appreciation. The judgement was provided by the worthy judges \u2013 Dr. Neelam<\/strong>
\nSharma, Head of Chemistry Department, Dr. Anjana Bhatia, Head of Botany Department and<\/strong>
\nDean Innovation and Research, Mrs. Saloni Sharma, Head of Physics Department and Ms.<\/strong>
\nVandanaSethi. In Model Making Competition, Ashmeet and Sanvi stood first, Kashish attained<\/strong>
\nsecond position, Kritika secured third position and Ritika received consolation prize. In poster<\/strong>
\nmaking competition, Bhawana got first position, Khushi secured second position, Simon<\/strong>
\nattained the third position and the consolation prizes were given to Himani and Muskan.<\/strong>
\nKiranjeet of SSC 2 Medical shared her powerful views on energy resources and its conservation<\/strong>
\nwhich is the absolute need of today\u2019s hour. Her thoughts provided an insight to all the students<\/strong>
\npresent there. \u2018The stage was conducted by Km. Ashmeet and Km. Kiranjeet commendably. All<\/strong>
\nthe teaching and non-teaching members were present in the function.<\/strong><\/p>\n
